Split Down the Line Between Obama and Clinton1/13/08 This article is an opinion piece written by Undecided Democrat, Kris Lazaro, of California as part of the USAElectionPolls.com focus group program. I came upon a great site today and really edified my knowledge about the candidates running for presidency. As a Democrat who is still trying to find his way and choose the ‘correct’ candidate for presidency, I found that the site www.ontheissues.org is a great resource for anyone looking for solid information about all the candidates. It even has a cool quiz that matches the test-taker’s ideology with the candidates. Being a bleeding-blue Democrat, I found solace in the fact that my top match was Dennis Kucinich, the Democratic Representative from Ohio. Senator Hillary Clinton came in second, with Barack Obama a distant sixth. Not surprisingly, all the Republican candidates disagreed with my answers, and as such, were ranked at the bottom of my matches. On another topic, I volunteer for a non-profit organization that teaches youth the value of leadership. Our organization puts on camps throughout the year and our main purpose is to educate. The funny thing that I realized today is that all of us in this organization are liberal Democrats! The founders of this organization feel that this upcoming election will be interesting. All of us felt that this would truly be a historic election where we will perhaps be electing the first African-American or first female president. On the topic of who should represent us Democrats in the general election, we were split down the line between Obama and Clinton. Those who favored Obama felt he is a charismatic orator who can bring about change to America, whereas those who sided with Clinton cited her experiences and party-line ideals. Interestingly, none of us felt that Democratic nominee John Edwards would be qualified to be either president or vice-president (he had his chance four years ago). In all, we are all crossing our fingers that our next president will come from the left side of the isle. 23 days left until Super Tuesday! [an error occurred while processing this directive] |
