Snippet of Recent InterviewJune 4, 2007 Does Ron Paul have any chance of winning the Republican nomination? We still have a little bit over 7 months to go before the first primaries so it would be unfair to completely discount anyone. The individuals that will have the toughest time winning any party's nomination are those that do not have a lot of campaign money to spend and those with a weak base of support. And none of those apply to Ron Paul. In fact, Ron Paul's base could be arguably the strongest. We make such a bold statement because Ron Paul supporters are all over the Internet. As the election grows nearer, the average voter will head to the Internet for information and Ron Paul has the head start over all of the candidates at getting his message out there for all to see in cyberspace.
He has a lot of support on the Internet but that has not helped him in the polls. You are right but Ron Paul's Internet popularity as it exists today has not existed that long. Would you believe that it is has only been about 2-3 months since Ron Paul created a Youtube account? He has already surpassed every other candidate in terms of subscriptions. If you extrapolate that over the next 6-7 months, I think you will clearly see something special. Remember, social networking grows exponentially not linearly. The whole addage that if one person tells two people, those two people tell two people, you would be sitting at a bit over a million people in just 20 days.
That does not mean he will win does it? Well, I admit it is tough to fathom of a situation where he would win. I think he can become very competitive given the proper factors. But the victory can not come from the Ron Paul campaign as much as it has to come from the people. I think Ron Paul's success depends on the heart of his supporters and how willing they are to get out his message and show their support for him. I don't want to think negative but if the war were to become more unpopular, I think regardless of party affiliation, Ron Paul will be the leader that resonates his message out to the American people.
What do you mean by becoming unpopular? Ron Paul is the only Republican candidate that is against the war. If the war was to become so unbearable that regardless of party affiliation, you were opposed to it, I think Ron Paul would be the one to secure a lot of the votes. Unpopularity would generally be coming from a large number of American casualties, something I do not want to fathom.
