American Lifestyle Affected By Economic Downturn

• 75% personally knows someone who has been laid off from their job in the current economic crisis.
• 23% don't know anyone who has lost their job
• 18% say the economy has had a negative impact on a relationship with a close friend or family member

As unemployment in the US rises, relationships and daily lifestyles are directly negatively affected. In a recent Rasmussen Reports telephone survey, it found that 75% of those polled said they knew someone who was laid off recently due to the current economic downfall.

Relationships are also suffering because of this downturn. Families and friends can no longer enjoy frivolous spending and all must cut down on unneccessary expenses to make ends meet.

In a way, this economic crisis is good for the country: we all must cut the fat out of all our lifestyles and start to live a more simple life. We Americans sometimes abuse our spending power and spoil ourselves with superfluous objects.

There's always a silver lining to every dark cloud: perhaps this storm will show us how to live like the rest of the world.
