Americans Fearful Of National Security After Obama Takes Office

• 26% of Americans think the United States will be safer at the end of Barack Obama's first year in office than it is today
• 42% say the country will not be safer at the end of 2009, and one-third of Americans (33%) aren't sure
• 51% of voters rate Obama good or excellent on national security issues while 22% view his performance as poor

Are Americans fearful of the unknown or are they starting to resent their pick for the next president of the United States? In a recent poll conducted by Rasmussen Reports, only 26% feel that America will be safer at the end of Obama's first year in office as compared to today. What this poll shows is the public's fear of an untested president. But, the author would like to point out that Obama will not be alone in that white House. He will have the support of key Democratic leaders and those who have been in the government for a few years.

Obama is already surrounding himself with those who know how the system works, and know that he will get the right people for the job. Our government has a system in place to check and balance everything, so fear not the unknown. Those in charge will have the resources necessary to complete the job competently.

America will get back on her feet safely and in one piece.
