» Commentary by Kris Lazaro (registered Democrat)

In a recent Rasmussen Reports telephone survey, a majority of Americans now believe that we are winning the war on terror. As fighting in Iraq cools down and potential threats are subdued by our military, the threat of terrorism is currently low.

But, according to this author, one cannot compare and quantify who is actually winning this war. On the superficial level, we can count how many attacks have taken place since the inception of this war, but, on a much deeper level, we cannot count how many potential terrorists were creared in light of our own aggressions abroad.

This war of terror that president Bush has thrust us into is not winnable. There are simply too many threats in the world to quell, and for us to even think about fighting every single threat is like trying to eradicate the common cold: there is just too many variations to the sickness that once we find the cure for one strain, it mutates into another.
