Cutting The Deficit, Health Care Top Priorities For Americans3/22/09 Tags: Economy, Health Care From Rasmussen Reports (conducted: 3/16-17/09)
» Commentary by Kris Lazaro (registered Democrat) In a recent Rasmussen Reports telephone survey, the pollsters asked people which topic should President Obama make his top priority. They found that the most pressing issue was cutting the deficit in half, followed by reforming our current health care system. To Democrats, though, health care reform has topped the list, raking in 42% of all total Democratic votes. This author agrees with these polling numbers, especially the Democratic side of the issue. Americans need health care reform now, not yesterday. Americans are losing their jobs, homes, and dying because of our inadequate health care infrastructure. Insurance companies are largely to blame for this dilemma. They are the ones who have driven many to bankruptcy and they are the ones who continue to perpetuate our current problems. We need to nationalize health care. Cutting the deficit was the top priority overall for Americans. Although getting there will be a long and trecherous journey, this author believes that the President's economic plan for recovery will eventually lead us out of economic disarray.
