When Barack Obama was on the campaign trail, he vowed to change how Washington worked. He also promised bipartisanship to achieve his goals and to advance this country. In a recent Gallup poll, though, about half of those polled have stated that the political atmosphere has relatively remained unchanged.

On the polar ends, 21% say it has improved, while 23% say it has gotten worse(5% had no opinion).

To this author, it is yet too early to pass judgement on whether or not Washington's tone has changed. During President Obama's presidential honeymoon, the opposition party is still trying to feel him out, and while the Republicans have already made a unified stand on one of Obama's proposed bills, this author still believes that bipartisanship and harmony is still possible in DC.

For this country to move forward, both sides of the aisle must work together to get legislation passed. President Obama is the transformational leader who can certainly facilitate this.
