In a new Gallup poll released recently, pollsters asked whether Americans favored or opposed certain goverment programs that should stimulate the hurting US economy.

Of all the questions asked, goverment programs that would help create jobs and giving aid to states in financial ruin received the most favorable responses.

According to those polled, Americans are thirsty for work and apparently want individual states to be financially backed by the US goverment. Social spending is a great idea to stimulate the economy. The creation of jobs should create a bigger tax base and greater spending power for the people. States should also benefit from federal economic assistance, if they so require it.

An emphasis on social spending is a far better idea than prioritizing defense spending. The money stays in the country and will yield direct profits to its citenzry, while defense spending only favors a certain segment of the population.

Social programs do work and will help stir up this lagging economy.
