Majority of South Carolinians Want Mark Sanford to Resign6/29/09 Tags: Republicans From Survey USA (conducted: 6/24/09)
» Commentary by Kris Lazaro (registered Democrat) With the news of Sanford's infidelity so recent, right now is the worst possible time for Sanford to perform in polls about his resignation from office. And the good news is that only 60% of adults feel he should resign. So I get the feeling from this poll that Sanford could repair his image if he wants to -- at least up to a level to justify his still governing. But I doubt he has a shot at the presidency, so we ought to rule a 2012 bid out of the question. His unannounced travel trip to South America has the whole country wondering what would happen if the governor were gone and there was an emergency of some sort. 70% of South Carolinians would like to see a change to the state constitution addressing this.
