Minority Of Those Polled Feel Social Security Will Not Payout1/4/09 Tags: Social Security From Rasmussen Reports
» Commentary by Kris Lazaro (registered Democrat) With the baby boom generation getting older, many Americans feel that they will not get their full Social Security benefits in the future. This government social program was created decades ago to compensate those in retirement, and while it has provided adequately thus far, projections for the future are bleak. The government needs to propose an expansion of this program for today's working adults, lest those working now will not receive anything when they get older. May it be from new taxes, or an expansion of current tariffs, there needs to be a new program to generate funds for this new program. Opponents on the right will surely cry "no more taxes', but to adequately provide and compensate those working adults who need social security payments, we justly need to generate much needed funds.
