In light of President Obama's ground breaking decision to mandate more gas efficient vehicles in the future, the question of alternative fuel-efficient car production now looms. In a recent Rasmussen Reports telephone survey, it found that most Americans feel that a non-US compnay will develop such a vehicle first.

The likely culprits would probably be the Japanese, as Hondo and Toyota now have Hybrid vehicles in their line and have vowed to increase more gas mileage efficient vehicles in the near future.

In this author's opinion, US car companies should take the lead, invest, and aggressively research this new type of vehicle. If this country hopes to rebound from our current economic state, every sector of industry must be more innovative and produce new products, including the ailing car production industry.
