  • 8% are not sure

A recent poll released by Rasmussen reveals that Americans believe that the main problem America faces today are our politician's unwilling nature to curb government spending. A great majority (77%) agreed to such a statement, and although this author disagrees this statement the government does need to increase taxes while also decreasing some government spending.

In order to make money, money has to be spent. Government spending is necessary to fuel the economy, while raising taxes will help offset government programs. Taxes are needed to fund social programs, programs that will enrich this country and hopefully make it a better place to live.

Americans need to realize this and stop blaming those in power. We have already seen what 8 years of laissez-faire governance brings, it is now time for action.
