We all need to relax. These latest polls from Rasmussen reveal that the average American still believes that America is heading in the wrong direction. While this may be true, we must be careful how we all approach these uncertain times. Recession is now officially upon us, but if we continue to feel bad about ourselves, we will never get out of this mess. America will be able to stand up by herself again, but we all need to stop panicking and chillax.

The economic downturn, while it might be frightening, is occuring, but that does not mean that we all should panic. Our economy and society is very diverse, and it is this author's opinion that we will not have a repeat of what happened in the early 1930s. OUr economy is so diversified and interlinked and overseen by the government that it will take a perfect storm to catalyze a meltdown. Do not be afraid of buying a house if one is able to do it; do not sell one's stocks in the belief that all will be lost; do not fear on the basis of panic; do not fear.

So, in the end, we all need to take a deep breath, realize what is going on, and believe in hope.
