Will Hillary Challenge Obama in 2012?

Monica Crowley of FOX News says she believes Hillary will run in 2012 because it would be too late for her to run in 2016.

She's not alone. Former Clinton aide Dick Morris said the same thing.

If Hillary Clinton were to run in 2016, she would be 69 years old. Reagan took the oath of office when he was 69 years old and McCain would have been 72 years had he won the presidency in 2008.

Therefore it is not plausible enough of a theory to believe Hillary would be too old.

But the odds are stacked against her if she was going to run in 2012 and she has to know that. First of all, she'd have another tumultuous primary battle against Obama. The party loyalists are going to be backing Obama to keep the party together. The independents have pretty much flocked to the Republican side and you cannot count on them to be there for her in 2012. Beating Obama amongst Democratic primary voters would be hard ... But winning the presidency in 2012 as a Democrat will be harder. Unless the economy turns around, it looks like a Republican will win 2012 and it would be pointless for Clinton to run.

Most of these folks in the media egging Clinton to run in 2012 have got to be trying to cause a rift amongst the Democrats as their political agenda. And then who really cares what Clinton does in 2016. Too many factors are involved. The economy will be different. A new slew of Democrats will be around. A strong legitimate thrid party may emerge out of voter sentiment against the Democrats and Republicans.
